Service to the school and community
The chapter provides numerous services to
Fayetteville Technical Community College, and the surrounding communities.
Spring Fling & Fall Fest 2006
The Spring Fling held in April 2006, and Fall Fest held in October 2006 was
sponsored by Fayetteville Technical Community College SGA. During this event
many organizations run booths around campus. Our chapter
members sold fried rice, drinks and spring rolls. The chapter also ran the
infamous dunking booth, with one of the chapter advisers as the volunteer to be
dunked. We also had the opportunity to tell more people about our chapter.
Seminars
The chapter hosted several seminars throughout the 2006-2007
year. The seminar's were open to all students and faculty of Fayetteville
Technical Community College.
Moses' Mathis Community Service Project
Many chapter members volunteer on the weekend to assist a local
gentleman, Mr. Moses Mathis, known fondly as "The Bicycleman". Mr. Mathis holds
an annual giveaway where bicycles and computers are donated to needy children in
Cumberland and surrounding counties each Christmas. The Omicron Beta Tau chapter
assists in this project by repairing computers to be given away. Approximately
75
computers were refurbished and given away December 2006.
March of Dimes
Cell Phone Drive
The collected unwanted cell phones
throughout the year to be donated to the March of Dimes Program.
Christmas Gift Drive
Our chapter in conjunction with Fayetteville
Technical Community College participated in a Christmas gift drive. The gift drive was
to collect items to be given to area migrant farm children.
